Hare again

Debbie and I cycle to the Windmill as it seems to be the only place in London putting on gigs tonight (well, the sort of place we like to go to gigs) having failed miserably to find somewhere either central or further east for the convenience of Pete and Wendy. We are outside in the warm evening air when our friends arrive and as it's been a while (Wendy says a long long while since she saw Debbie) we chat and chat and chat. We may have missed the first act on the bill. We hear the strains of a band who are not just sound checking so go inside and the excellent Rabbitfoot who I saw a few months ago. The review is here to save me enthusing about them again https://psicle.blogspot.com/2024/03/easter-bunnies.html. They are just as good this time around playing a great range of styles although not so much of the ATV weirdness this time around although maybe we missed that bit. When Rabbitfoot are innovative strangeness they are very out on their own and when they insist that we dance (it's not a request which is odd from the singer who is usually so polite) they deliver great beats to lift your feet to. Fantastic and they go down well with the crowd. After another round and sojourn in the garden we're back inside to see Pyongyang who are a hard rocking psylightly psyche band who get into a good groove. Danny the rapper we last saw at new year and he delivers another hard hitting set although Pete don't like that he has no instruments on stage. Maybe the guitar gods are with Pete as half way through the set his backing track stops due to technical difficulties which is ironic as tonight's bands, and presumably Danny, have been curated by a Windmill sound engineer who is leaving London for Wales. Anyway Danny gives us a bit of chat and makes us laugh before the sounds kick back in and he finishes his energetic set. Last up are Charlemagne who deliver a rocking blues set with an indie twist. A good end to the evening although Rabbitfoot are definitely the best of the night. Must catch them again...

Apologies that the photos have even less musicians in that usual.
