Leeds Leeds Leeds

Good Friday get away with family. Up the reopened M1 thru Leeds to Otley. Drink. Bus Leeds. Drink. Train Wakefield. Drink. Hop pub - great place with good beers and bands upstairs downstairs. Catch last bars of 1st band then on comes GhostPoet direct from London. Great dubsteppish tunes with big shouts to Wakefield and a wonderful voice. If a bit muffled so unfortunately lyrics somewhat lost. Really competent drummer and guitarist complement the smooth vocals. And so onto Metronomy. Listening to new album in car sounded easy listening (a lot like Basement Jaxx who went on the car stereo afterwards) but live they bring the lofi sound right up to hifi and hit the high notes with apparent ease. Get the crowd going and brilliant mix of dance, guitar and a bit of rocking out which never did anyone any harm. Great gig mad dash train to Leeds. Drink. Time to head homeward to see if kids in bed. Are. Aw.

Saturday weather good so after a slow start hop in cars for drive thru the beautiful Yorkshire moors b'ah tat and to secret waterfalls near Bolton Abbey for lunch a dip fighting comedy falling and extreme waterfall sliding. Who needs Centre Parks. Back to Otley for barbeque of exquisite mushrooms and then in as rains. Robin Hood is the Easter film.

Lazy Sunday morning then into full on Easter Egg Hunt with adults fighting kids for chocs. Hike up the Chevin via car boot (bags of toot bought as is the custom) for wonderful views over Otley and the moors. Pint and mega chips looking t'other way to Leeds Bradford and the airport. Gorgeous views (if you like town and country like me). Early evening bbq mush again with unbelievably tasty lasagne then down the amazing garden to the riverside for music anecdotes and laughter around the fire til the wee hours.

Now Monday morning feeling... off today after breakfast. Whatever time those teenagers decide to surface. Another great weekend with the best hosts ever. And me back again in 4 days time...
