It's Ramsay's 60th bash weekend and having negotiated the railways Debbie and I present presents before we check into our inn where tomorrow's event will be and we all (Rams, Jo, our kid Mark, Debs and me) have a couple of swift ones and go for a great curry and a pint in the Junction. Saturday Debbie and I go for a great breakfast at Sift then wander around Otley and down to the river gardens in the rain. Not that we minded. We help set up the room with balloons and doing roadie duties before retiring to our room and I dash out for some sneaky chips. Our other friends arrive at various times and I won't list them all in a music blog. Suffice to say the night was fantastic fun and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Ramsay had three great bands on the bill and after giving his Oscars quality speech on came the ever dependable Scaramanga Six to set the night off with some proper rocking tunes that got the dance floor going. Their intensity is mesmerising. Next up are Koyo who deliver a great set of eclectic tunes that are harder and more rock than I've seen in the past having said which they up the energy in the hall and by this time everyone is up for their indie party vibe. By this time the party is in full swing and the happy birthday balloons have long gone except for a lonely H up high all having been ripped down to throw at others or to use as immaturely positioned phallic symbols. You know who you are. Now Adult DVD take the stage. Remember to add "band" when you web search them. They're a collective of young kids who give us a storming set of indie dance think Talking Heads producing Klaxons. The place is really jumping and they hit the spot just as we're in at our height of admittedly slightly drunken celebratory excitement allowing us to channel that into hands in the air grooving. Yeah sweet. Need to see them again before they lose their edge or get too big. So now it's up to the DJs to keep us dancing and chatting and eventually Debbie and I turn in rather than grace the after party. Next day we treat Jon and Scottie to breakfast at Sift in exchange for a lift to Leeds station. Thanks for a fantastic night Ramsay. Can't wait for your 70th...
I'm sure anyone reading this will have more than enough photos. I took 2. Both the same at the start with Scaramanga Six. Worth including if only for the brilliant picture Jo painted as a backdrop to the stage.
