A5 during Corona

Today I'm heading for the furthest league ground within the M25 which is way north but I guess at least west. First stop is Wembley which doubles as the national stadium and also where FA Cup finals are played so of course The Arsenal know it well. And we played our Champions League ties there at the turn of the millennium with a pretty poor win rate and it was full of "away" fans when we played Greek or Turkish clubs their following mainly from north London who would usually support Arsenal. That was when Arsenal were in the old ground and before Wembley was redeveloped. Next it's up to Barnet FC which are honoured indeed as not currently a league club. Shouldn' t have bothered as the routes to the stadium seem to be down long tracks which aren't currently open. Then a haul up to Vicarage Road in Watford which is positioned like an old style ground but looks new. Nice enough. Had lunch in the cemetery opposite. I retrace my steps (wheels) to Stanmore then head for the A5 which is pretty quiet and gives me a 10 mile dead straight run which on Strava looks like I've switched it off and on again. Just after Kilburn I turn off for Lords where me and Bruce will be in July for an Aussie one dayer. Hopefully! Through town home stopping off at The Oval which I've mentioned before in this quest of stadiums but thought should do so I'd seen in one day the 1st & current FA Cup final venues.

The Wembley Arch

Wembley shout out to the NHS

Wembley

Not really welcoming at Barnet. Note their floodlights and the Wembley Arch

Barnet The Hive

Watford FC...

... Vicarage Road

I just liked the shape of this church

And this one with it's duck pond

And this one too

Lords. You can see Father Time just about. I think.

The Oval from the Gasworks End

With the legendary The Cricketers still closed

Note straight line of A5 must be Roman - the last bit home wasn't that interesting but you can always look on Strava
Grounds:
Wembley at the wiggly bit at Wembley
Barnet just below Edgware's "E"
Watford below it's "W"
Lord's where I turn off the Edgware Road
Oval the kink on the bottom right
