vs West Brom

Chelski losing gives us the opportunity to get within a point and prove Wenger right. And how can we lose to West Brom at home?! Well, quite easily as it happens. Poor defending not tracking runners on the break, uncommitted in midfield, little sense of urgency in attack during the 1st half but at nil nil the 2nd half started with us thinking we’ll step up the pace now. But it was West Brom who took their chances.  Commanding play in their half then really good breaking play meant that they took the lead then compounded it. Then another. Almunia responsible for ALL 3 in my opinion. OK – so his defence was crap as well but he was all over the place. And this after conceding then saving a 1st half penalty – not sure he should’ve still been on the pitch and to be honest would probably been better for us if he wasn’t. Then a really frantic end to the match with Sammi Nasri our hero getting 2 and a real nail biter for both fans in injury time. Why didn’t we have that urgency in the first half when we were dominant? To be fair it would have been a mugging if we’d equalised – West Brom beat us with good football – not just kicking us about which is the tactic of so many “lesser” teams. Good for them – well deserved.

We need a lot more urgency and the killer instinct Arsene says we have this season was sadly lacking. And what’s worse ManUre slip up on Sunday and still go above us! Ah well – we will only be one point behind Chelski WHEN we win next Sunday in west London…

Long walk down to Angel with my son – pop into the Workers Cafe to cheer ourselves up, take ages to get our grub meaning we ruminate even more on our poor performance. Only interrupted by news that Ed is leader of Labour. An appropriate place to see that news.

Up the Workers and Up The Arsenal!!
